PROGRAMME SUSTAINABLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION OBSERVATORY IN ARGENTINA 

On the path towards the objective of changing consuming and producing patterns, it is evident that information has a determinant role. In fact, the fast growth of communications and tools that allow consumers to enter in the sources of information has revolutionized the access to goods and services. At the same time, and given that consumption is considered an indicator of the offer, it has a strong influence over production patterns. In this way, productive sectors develop products and services that seek to satisfy the needs and requirements of consumers. Because of this, any change towards patterns of sustainable consumption will generate a turn towards patterns of sustainable production.

Consumption radiography reflex patterns very diverse related with social stratum or territorial facts.  In this sense, having a MAP of sustainable consumption and production will allow national, provincial and municipal governments, cameras and association of entrepreneurs, universities, technical institutes and civil society organizations of a country, to see an increment in the availability of information consistent with the topic and will have the possibility to do specific approximations from which to orientate actions and design and manage politics.

In the frame of this programme, IADS has proposed to it self to generate useful statistical information in sustainable consumption and production to ease the formulation of politics, programmes, tools, and execution of more efficient actions that facilitate the change towards sustainable consumption and production patterns
